The Embassy of Denmark in the Philippines has supported the launch of a new offshore wind partnership in Ilocos Norte. The initiative is led by Buhawind Energy Northern Luzon Corporation and brings together government, academia and industry partners.
Key steps include commissioning LiDAR units and a second meteorological mast to strengthen site data and satellite measurements. An environmental and social impact study has also begun to ensure compliance with environmental and community standards.
The launch formalised a partnership between Mapua University and Mariano Marcos State University to develop green energy talent. The collaboration aims to align skills training with the needs of the growing renewable energy sector in the Philippines.
Denmark’s Head of Trade in the Philippines, Reza Dadufalza-Goyenche, attended the event and delivered a message of support. She highlighted the Danish-led JOBS4RE programme, which supports reskilling and upskilling for the renewable energy workforce.
With strong wind resources and a young workforce, the Philippines is positioning itself for a sustainable and just energy transition.
