Danish facilities group ISS says its Hong Kong unit managed Wang Fuk Court, scene of Hong Kong’s deadliest fire in decades. Reuters reports that at least 156 people were killed in the blaze at the Tai Po housing complex.

ISS said subsidiary ISS EastPoint Properties provided property management and security services for the estate. The company stressed it had no role in appointing the renovation contractor or supervising the work linked to the fire.

The company also stated it did not install, maintain or inspect fire safety equipment at Wang Fuk Court. Under Hong Kong law, those services must be handled by licensed specialist contractors chosen through established tender procedures.

ISS shares fell about 8% in Copenhagen after the Hong Kong role became public. Analysts warned of possible penalties or damages, while noting that some liability could be covered by insurance.

Hong Kong’s leader has ordered a judge-led inquiry into the Wang Fuk Court fire and renovation oversight. ISS says it is already in contact with authorities and will fully cooperate while supporting affected residents.
