The chairwoman of the Danish Parliament’s Business, Growth and Export committee, Ms. Karin Gaardsted, was on a visit to Beijing from January 16-18.
During her visit to Beijing, chairwoman Gaardsted met with a number of Danish companies and Danish business people in order to get an impression of the possibilities and challenges Danish companies are facing in China.
Chairwoman Gaardsted met with both SME’s and larger Danish companies during the visit, and she was the guest of honour at Kopenhagen Fur’s awarding of ‘Miss Happiness 2013’ in Beijing.
Increased Sino-Danish relations
On the 17th of January chairwoman Gaardsted participated in a network event for Danish companies in China at the Danish Embassy in Beijing.
Minister Counsellor at the Embassy, Mr. Søren Jacobsen, welcomed the chairwoman to China and said “that her visit was very important since the Business, Growth and Export committee of the Danish parliament was of great importance for the Danish companies in China.”
The purpose of the event was to have an open and frank discussion on the possibilities and challenges that Danish companies face in China.
Denmark can learn from China
Chairwoman Gaardsted held a speech for the Danish companies at the networking event.
“My journey is based on the fact that China is an increasingly important trading partner for Denmark. It’s therefore natural to use this visit to discuss prospects for trade. Tonight a wide range of Danish sectors are involved. Many of the sectors are sectors where we have a lot to from Danish side, and where I see clear opportunities to strengthen our trade relations with China,” said chairwoman Gaardsted.
