Denmark’s Semco Maritime and Vietnam’s PTSC will deliver Formosa 4 offshore substation in Taiwan

Danish engineering company Semco Maritime has entered a consortium with Vietnam’s PTSC to deliver the offshore substation for Taiwan’s Formosa 4 wind project. The contract was awarded by Synera Renewable Energy.

The project scope covers the design, procurement, construction, and commissioning of both the jacket and topside structure, located off Miaoli County in Taiwan. Semco Maritime will lead engineering, procurement, and commissioning of the electrical and auxiliary systems, while PTSC will handle procurement of the remaining equipment and fabrication of the topside at its yard in Vung Tau, Vietnam.

Thomas Thomsen, senior vice president of renewables at Semco Maritime, said the company is drawing on its experience in Taiwan to contribute to the growth of the local offshore wind sector. PTSC’s managing director, To Ngoc Tu, emphasized the strong partnership between the two companies as central to ensuring the project’s success.

The offshore substation is scheduled for delivery by the end of 2027.
