Finnish teen missing in Malaysia

Nikitin Aleksis Elis Valtteri, a 20 years old Finnish tourist has been reported missing in Pulau Tioman island, Malaysia.

He had arrived at Kampung Paya in Pulau Tioman on Monday, 21 January 2019 and stayed near the house of his only acquaintance named Jamsari.

Next day, he promised Jamsari to meet him at the Kampung Asah waterfall to participate in a recreational activity, but Nikitin failed to show up.

According to Mohd Sani Harul, Pahang Fire and Rescue Department deputy director.

“After Nikitin has not shown up, Jamsari scoured the area but to no avail,” Sani said.

Then, Jamsari lodged a missing person’s report at the Tioman police station and a Search and Rescue (SAR) operation was launched at 3.45pm on Sunday, 27 January 2019.

A total of 17 firemen, nine police officers and four personnel from the Malaysian Civil Defence Force are involved in the SAR operation, he added.

Until now 29 January 2019, SAR operation is still processing and no found person report has been mentioned yet.
