Human Rights Dialogue between Norway and Vietnam

The annual Human Rights Dialogue between Vietnam and Norway took place on 29 October 2012 in Hanoi. Among the topic discussed were freedom of expression, the role of media and internet freedom, human rights defenders and capital punishment. The dialogue was conducted in an open and constructive atmosphere.

The Vietnamese delegation was led by the Director General of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Hoang Chi Trung, and the Norwegian delegation was led by Director General Aud Lise Norheim, Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

On the occasion of the official dialogue, a visit to Vietnam National University was conducted for an introduction about the Master Program in Human Rights. The delegation also visited the Police Academy where representatives from the Norwegian police took part in a training session on the presumption of innocence.

Vietnam and Norway have had an annual Human Rights Dialogue since 2003. For more information on Norwegian human-rights related work in Vietnam.
