The Embassy of Sweden in Jakarta reports a 17 percent increase in Indonesians studying in Sweden during 2024–2025. The figures point to growing interest among Indonesian youth in education and career opportunities in the Nordic country.
The embassy recently hosted “Join Sweden Study & Career Day 2026” in Jakarta. The event connected prospective students and young professionals with universities and companies. More than 2,000 participants joined both in person and online.
Participating institutions included Lund University, Uppsala University, Stockholm University, Chalmers University of Technology and World Maritime University. Companies such as Ericsson, IKEA, Volvo Cars and Epiroc also took part.
Daniel Blockert, Sweden’s ambassador to Indonesia, said Indonesian youth have strong potential to collaborate globally. Representatives from Ericsson added that the company is open to recruiting Indonesian talent, particularly within the digital economy.
The event also provided guidance on scholarships and career planning. The embassy stated it will continue offering digital resources to support Indonesian students interested in studying and working in Sweden.
