Norway backs digital inclusion for people with disabilities in Vietnam

Ms. Mette Møglestue, Deputy Head of Mission at the Norwegian Embassy in Hanoi, delivered the opening remarks at a technical meeting focused on improving access to government e-portals for people with disabilities in Vietnam.

The event, held on Wednesday 9 April 2025, was hosted by UNDP Vietnam and highlighted the importance of inclusive digital accessibility.

“Norway is proud to support this initiative and of our partnership with UNDP in implementing Norway’s commitment to promoting inclusion and equal access to public services for all,” said Ms Møglestue.

“The inclusion of people with disabilities and respect for their dignity and human rights is a priority for Norway, both at home and abroad. In a time where values and rights are challenged, Norway wishes to be a strong advocate and defender of human rights for people with disabilities,” she added.

The meeting included the presentation of key findings from the report “Assessing the Digital Accessibility of 20 Information Websites of the Ministries and the National Assembly.” The session concluded with a constructive discussion on how to further refine the report and strengthen its recommendations.

Norway has long championed the rights of people with disabilities, both through domestic policy and international partnerships such as its ongoing collaboration with UNDP in Vietnam.
