Norwegian Ambassador meets Asian Disaster Preparedness Center

Kjetil Paulsen, Norwegian Ambassador to Thailand and Cambodia, met with newly appointed executive director of Asian Disaster Preparedness Center, ADPC, Hans Guttman, on Friday 17 February 2017. They discussed the future of ADPC and Norway’s continued involvement with the organization.

Being extremely vulnerable to natural disasters, the Asia-Pacific region must proactively manage its disaster risk. With nearly 30 years of experience, ADPC contributes in making the region safer by strengthening disaster resilience at all levels. The organization is independent, working with countries all over the region, including Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, the Philippines and Vietnam. ADPC’s headquarters are located in Bangkok.

Executive Director Guttman has over 25 years of experience with policy and development, specifically in the field of aquatic resources and water management. His background includes hands-on experience with implementing on-the-ground sustainable rural development initiatives at the local, national and regional levels in Southeast Asia.
