Telenor adds 3,4 million new customers in 3rd quarter

Asia has been vital for Telenor’s record breaking customer growth. CEO Jon Frederik Baksaas says the advance is driven by massive growth in Malaysia, Myanmar, India and Bangladesh.

A happy Telenor CEO could present the company’s quarterly budget. Not only did Telenor have a record breaking amount of new customers, they also had their highest quarterly turnover NOK 27,7 billion. A turnover which size has been driven by increased data-traffic and number customers.

“During the third quarter, we continued to drive profitability and revenue growth. We added 3.4 million new mobile subscribers during the period, fuelled by customer uptake in India, Bangladesh, Malaysia and our newest market Myanmar,’’ Jon Fredrik Baksaas, President and CEO of Telenor Group, said in a press release from the Telenor group.

Telenor launched their services in Myanmar in the end of September. In October the company had 1 million subscribers in the country and Jon Fredrik Baksaas is confident that the trend will continue.
