Thailand’s Deputy Education Minister Ong-at Wongprachum met Finland’s Minister of Education Anders Adlercreutz in Bangkok on Tuesday 25 November 2025 to discuss progress and future plans under the Thai–Finnish education cooperation agreement signed in 2022.
The meeting gathered senior officials from both countries, including Finland’s Ambassador to Thailand Kristiina Kuvaja-Xanthopoulos. The Finnish minister expressed condolences following the passing of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother, before reaffirming Finland’s commitment to the partnership.
Both sides highlighted shared challenges, including ageing populations and workforce skills gaps. Finland emphasised the importance of vocational education and lifelong learning, while Thailand underlined its focus on employability and labour market needs.
The ministers welcomed ongoing initiatives, including an MoU on vocational education with Omnia Education Partnerships and Tavastia Edu, as well as the participation of more than 100 Thai students in a six-week programme at Aalto University.
During the visit, the two sides also witnessed the signing of a new MoU to develop vocational curricula and strengthen cooperation between educational institutions and industry, with an initial focus on automation technology, ICT and hospitality.
