Finland Offer Tsunami Warning System to Thai

A Finnish consortium offers a tsunami warning system cost EUR 8-10 million to Thailand, reported on 6 October. The consortium estimated that the warning system would be ready within one year from signing the contract.
        Thai government will host the final auction at the turn of the year 2005-2006. 
        The consortium consists of 11 companies and institutes: Vaisala, EADS, Jaakko Pöyry Group, Fastrax, VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, the Finnish Institute of Marine Research (FIMR), and the Finnish Meteorological Institute (FMI), among others.
        Vaisala, member of the Finnish consortium, has already submitted a tender bid for the delivery of a corresponding system for Malaysia.
        Other potential suppliers in this tender bid were German, American, Japanese and Norwegian.
