Swedish Environmental Secretariat For Asia Meet In Hanoi

The meeting will discuss three major thematic areas: the use of natural resources and rural livelihood protection in the uplands; the environmental implications of increasing trade; and the questions attached to the concept of sustainable urbanisation.

Delegates will also review SENSA’s activities since the last Annual Meeting in Pattaya, as well as discuss and develop the three major thematic areas with the participation of the experts within these fields. They come from several countries in the Southeast Asian region and their advice will help ensure progress in analysing these issues and achieving desired and necessary results.

A field trip to Halong Bay will be part of the meeting with the of hosting a briefing by the management committee for the World Heritage Site on environmental protection measures in coastal zone development of the province of Quang Ninh.

Participants to the meeting include staff of the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) from Stockholm, and Swedish Embassies in Bangkok, Phnom Penh, Vientiane, Jakarta and Hanoi.

Representatives of the Swedish Trade Council and Stockholm Environment Institute will also attend.
