Durian – the typhoon which recently tormented parts of Vietnam along with other neighboring countries – has left many Vietnamese people injured and homeless. In order to assist those people, the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) has decided to approve that the Swedish Red Cross can spend one million SEK from their so-called “rapid response fund” for assistance to the typhoon victims in Vietnam.
The Swedish aid money will support the distribution of food and provide water, blankets, mosquito nets, clothes, and medicine to the victims. The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies will carry out the actual work in Vietnam.
