Finn to Fight with KNLA

Finn aims to be shoulder to shoulder with the Karen National Liberation Army in Burma.
“The Burma issue and the KNLA are well known in Finland. I want to join the KNLA to protect the civilians,” said a 28-year-old Finn identified only as Mika who plans to fight side by side with the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) in the civil war for an independent state from the Burmese military junta.
According to Bangkok Post, Mika will help the Karen with his military skills from his background in both the Finnish Defence Forces and the French Foreign Legion.
“Some people help the Karen with their teaching skills. I have military skills, so I am helping them with those,” he continued and adding the reason to join the Karen that military types are well aware of the problems facing Burmese people and of the brutality of the Burmese military.
In addition, Mika has recently approached the Thailand-based All Burma Students Democratic Front (ABSDF) which has hundreds of volunteers serving in Burma’s ethnic armies.
Eventually, if Mika is accepted into the rebel ranks, he will probably travel to one of the ABSDF’s training camps in Burma to learn guerrilla warfare tactics and jungle survival skills.
