A Play Based on Hans Christian Andersen’s Story to Be Performed in Vietnam

A dance adaptation of a story by the famous Danish author Hans Christian Andersen, Paradise Garden, is to take the stage at the capital’s Youth Theatre mid September.
The play Paradise Garden, based on Andersen’s story The Story of a Mother, follows a mother’s quest for her beloved daughter who is snatched from her arms by the figure of death.
was a Danish author and poet, most famous for his fairy tales. Among his best-known stories are “The Snow Queen”, “The Little Mermaid”, “The Emperor’s New Clothes” and “The Ugly Duckling”. During Andersen’s lifetime he was feted by Royalty and acclaimed as having brought joy to children across Europe. His fairy tales have been translated into well over a hundred languages and continue to be published in “millions of copies all over the world”.
Under the sponsorship of the Sweden project Children’s Voice, the theatre is also hosting a performance training course for teachers working at centres for disadvantages children.
