Visitors from Europe, especially Scandinavian countries, have already returned to Thailand after the tsunami hit in late 2004, said Pattanapong Aikwanich, former president of the Phuket Tourist Association.
To promote growth, there will be more charter flights, three a week from Scandinavia to Phuket from November this year to next April.
Dr Suvit is optimistic that the roadshow, flight increases and marketing campaigns would improve the situation.
