Dong Energy, Care To Collaborate On Climate Projects In Vietnam

Care
Danmark, the Danish branch of the Cooperative for Assistance and Relief
Everywhere humanitarian agency, and Dong Energy have entered into a
collaboration agreement on the development of energy projects, for the
sustainable upliftment of the poor in Vietnam and Ghana.
    According
to Dong Energy, the world’s poor are the most vulnerable to climate change, and
they depend on energy for their daily survival and for them to be able to
improve their living conditions.
    Care
Danmark and Dong plan to support local projects ensuring climate-friendly
utilization and production of energy. Care’s task will be to identify and
develop poverty-oriented climate projects, and Dong will contribute with
know-how and financial support as well as buying any clean development
mechanism credits generated by the projects.
    Anders
Eldrup, CEO of Dong Energy, said:
    “We
are delighted to be able to co-operate with Care Danmark on activities, which
improve living conditions for people in poor local communities. We hope that
the agreement will herald the start of a number of climate projects that prove
sustainable in the long term”.
