At the opening of the Centre, the Ambassador to Thailand Michael Sternberg said that the processing of visa applications in Thailand have not always been easy. Over the years, different measures have been taken in order to ensure improved and smoother services, and this has resulted in a slow but steady improvement.
Now, however, the Embassy has decided to go all in and set up an office in Amarin Tower that deals with visa applications exclusively. What’s more, for an even better service, the Embassy has outsourced the process to someone else. This way, people who come for assistance at the centre will be helped and guided by people who are able to focus on the applicant 100 percent.
It is the world renowned consular service company, VFS Global, which takes over the responsibility of the visa application processing. The opening of the Danish Visa Application Centre in Bangkok is part of a series of similar initiatives worldwide. So far, Visa Application Centres in Moscow and in Mumbai have been established with great success.
VFS Global ensures safe and secure transactions of passports and applications and takes many precautions in order to maintain a high level of confidentiality. However, even though the processing of visa applications has been outsources to VFS Global, the decision to grant a visa or not is still made by the Embassy.
At the new centre, visa applicants for Denmark and Iceland can expect:
• To be able to submit visa applications and collect their passports without making appointments in advance
• Longer operating hours
• To have the option to have their passport delivered through Courier
• Dedicated email responses and a helpline for enquiries
• Optional SMS services to follow the status of their application.
