Swedish companies: Closure No Problem for Us

Swedish companies established in Vietnam do not care that the Swedish government will close the Embassy in Hanoi. The Swedish companies believe, however, that the consulate in HCMC will continue the work. Otherwise it will be the Embassy in Thailand that will take over diplomatic relations with Vietnam.
“We feel safe in Vietnam. No Swedish companies fear anything and life continues here in Vietnam. No problem at all,” says Johan Sundberg, “Fine Interiors”, HCMC, in a comment to the news of the closure. The company employs 200 staff members.
“From what I hear, nobody else think much about the Embassy closing either. Life continues,” he says.
The Swedish government decided last week to close the Embassy in Hanoi during 2011 to save money. The same goes for seven other Embassy world wide, among others the Embassy of Sweden in Malaysia.
