Passengers requested to be early at Helsinki Airport in June

The summer holiday season is one of the busiest periods at Helsinki Airport. Particularly the beginning of June and the week after Midsummer will be busy. So, if you are travelling to China or Southeast Asia, make sure you arrive at the airport well in advance.
When the summer holidays begin, heavy traffic is expected in both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. Passengers are asked to arrive at the airport early and reserve enough time for check-in, security checks and passport control, especially in the mornings between 6.30 and 8.30 and in the afternoons between 15.00 and 17.00.
Many airlines offer advance check-in services, which allow passengers to drop off their bags at the airport the night before travelling. For information on advance check-in service times, visit the airport website at: http://www.helsinki-vantaa.fi/timetables/airlines.
The airport website contains also handy checklists and tips for passengers heading to the sun. The website offers helpful information on everything from packing to check-in, parking and prohibited substances/materials. Use of kiosks can speed up departure times.
Passengers can ensure themselves a quick, convenient check-in process using the self-service check-in kiosks. The kiosks can also be used when checking in golf bags, backpacks or other checked bags. After checking in, passengers can bring their checked baggage to their airline’s baggage drop counter.
Passengers travelling to Asia, the Middle East, North America and non-Schengen EU-countries (such as Great Britain, Cyprus, Bulgaria and Ireland) are asked to try the new border control kiosks, which speed up the passport check. The user-friendly kiosks may be used by holders of biometric passports.
