The Danish Consulate General in Guangzhou, China, has celebrated that it is 20 years birthday since it re-opened.
In the mid-19th century the Opium war took place in China, and in connection with the war the Danish Consulate General in Guangzhou, a city in Southern China, was closed.
In 1998 it finally re-opened. The 20 year birthday was celebrated on 13 September in Hotel White Swan. Among the participants were Tom Jensen, who is the one who opened the office 20 years ago and Danish Ambassador Carsten Damsgaard.
Besides the consulate general in Guangzhou, Denmark also has consulates in Shanghai and Chongqing.
