Statement by the European Union Spokesperson issued on July 23 on the political agreement reached in Cambodia:
“We welcome the agreement reached on 22 July by the two main political parties in Cambodia. This significant agreement will hopefully contribute to facilitate reforms strengthening the democratic process in Cambodia as well as inclusive and sustainable economic growth.
We look forward to deepening our already close cooperation with Cambodia.”
Earlier, the EU Delegation voiced concerns about violence in connection with the demonstration which took place in Phnom Penh on 15th July. It urged Cambodian leaders to act responsibly in the interest of Cambodia’s democracy and prevent further violence.
