Nokia chosen to upgrade communications network at Taiwan’s Taoyuan International Airport

Finnish company Nokia will upgrade Taoyuan International Airport’s communications network to improve security, reliability and support future expansion.

Finnish company Nokia has been selected to upgrade the communications network at Taoyuan International Airport in Taiwan.
The project covers Terminals 1 and 2 and focuses on security, reliability and cyberattack protection.

In a press release, representatives from Nokia explained how the company will deploy an IP/MPLS-based solution delivered with local partner HwaCom Systems.

The network will handle voice, data, video, Wi-Fi, CCTV, check-in kiosks and baggage handling on one platform.

Centralised management will give the airport better visibility into network performance and help simplify daily operations.
Taoyuan International Airport handled almost 45 million passengers in 2024 and remains Taiwan’s busiest airport.

A third terminal is under development and is expected to open in 2027.

Nokia says the upgraded network will support this growth and enhance safety, efficiency and energy performance.
