Guests from the Nordic community in Bangkok were invited to the opening ceremony of the Nordic Film Festival at the Royal Danish Embassy in Thailand on Thursday night on 12 February.

Different tables were set up serving snacks and refreshments. Guests were treated to hors d’oeuvres including Norwegian salmon, Swedish candy, and Danish hot dogs.

The highlight of the night was the screening of Munch (2023) by Norwegian filmmaker Henrik Martin Dahlsbakken.’

The film follows the life and struggles of the famed Norwegian artist Edvard Munch. Through artistic interpretation, multiple languages, and different time periods, it portrays the painter’s mental struggles and hardships.

Before the film started, the four Nordic ambassadors gathered in front of the guests to deliver opening remarks for the Nordic Film Festival.

“We are relatively small nations, but when it comes to movies, I would, in all modesty, say that we are superpowers,” Danish Ambassador H.E. Mr. Danny Annan said.
