Norwegian seafood exporters now have a new direct route to China.

On 24 January 2026, Suparna Airlines officially launched weekly cargo flights between Oslo Airport and Shanghai Pudong International Airport, NTB Kommunikasjon reports.

The service is currently the only direct connection between Oslo and Shanghai.

The new route comes as Norwegian salmon exports to China continue to grow, according to Fish Farmer Magazine. The increase partly offsets reduced trade with the United States following recent tariff measures.

The flights are operated with dedicated cargo aircraft, increasing capacity for time-sensitive goods such as fresh salmon and other seafood.

“China is an important and growing market for Norwegian seafood,” Eva Beate Lande, Head of Cargo at Avinor, tells Fish Farmer Magazine.

Fast and reliable transport is critical for fresh seafood exports. The new service is designed to improve predictability and reduce delivery times for shipments to the Chinese market.

“With this route, we can offer an efficient and reliable transport solution that meets the requirements for quality and delivery time,” Lande adds in comments to the magazine.

Oslo Airport has in recent years developed into a key hub for Norwegian seafood exports, supported by short distances from production areas and specialised cooling and handling infrastructure.
