A Sunclass Airlines flight carrying 315 stranded Nordic travellers landed in Copenhagen on Monday morning, Ritzau reports. The passengers had been stuck in Southeast Asia and the Indian Ocean after several days of major flight disruptions linked to unrest in the Middle East.
The repatriation flight was announced by Spies on Friday. It departed Copenhagen on Sunday and flew first to the Maldives, then to Phuket in Thailand.
From there, passengers from destinations including Sri Lanka, Bali and Thailand were picked up before the flight continued to Copenhagen. The plane landed at 10.15 on 9 March.
Spies said using its own airline, Sunclass Airlines, made it possible to bring many travellers home faster at a time when tickets were difficult to find. The company added that work is still ongoing to help remaining guests return home.
Passengers travelling onward to Sweden, Norway and Finland were set to continue from Copenhagen later the same day.
