Swedish criminals in Hong Kong facing more problems

Sweden has signed an agreement with Hong Kong which will enable prosecutors and courts in Sweden to assist prosecutors and courts in Hong Kong when investigating crimes. The agreement was signed during Swedish Minister for Public Administration and Housing Mr. Stefan Attefall’s visit to Hong Kong November 27 to 29 2013.

The agreement also means that prosecutors and courts in Hong Kong can cooperate with the authorities in Sweden in investigating crimes in Sweden. Legal assistance can be requested and provided both during a preliminary investigation and during a trial.

The “Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters” was signed on behalf of Hong Kong by the Secretary for Security, Mr. Lai Tung-kwok.
