Swedish Naval Officers in Singapore

Naval relation between Sweden and Singapore goes back over twenty years and since 1995 an annual exchange is conducted within the memorandum of understanding (MoU) agreement between the two nations.

This year Sweden participated with two officers from the Fourth naval warfare flotilla who visited Singapore for two weeks in order to train and share experiences with their Singaporean colleagues.

This week the two Swedish officers got to sail onboard the Singaporean Mine-Counter vessel RSS Bedok, where staff from the department of defence at the embassy also got the privilege to sail onboard for a day. The experience showed the requirement that is demanded of both the personnel and the equipment in the Singapore Straits, one of the world’s most narrow and busiest sea lanes.
