Danish Children’s Books Translated Into Vietnamese

”The Butterfly”, ”Did you fall?”, ”The Thief of Books”, ”When Toad got tired”, and ”The Day Leopold got Evil”. Those are the five books, which have now been translated into Vietnamese and published with financial support from Danida’s culture development programme in Vietnam.
A total of 25,000 copies have been published, out of which 10,000 copies are directly funded by the Danish project support, which aims to ”support the development of Vietnamese children’s literature that has a wide scope and appeal to the children and strengthen their imagination and critical sense,” according to a statement from the Danish embassy in Hanoi. Danida has already donated 2,000 copies to children in poor mountainous areas of Vietnam.
The publication of these five Danish children’s books is a result of the co-operation between the Danish Writers Association, Hanoi Writers Association and the Vietnamese publishing house Kim Dong, which was initiated in 2006.
