Electronic Publishing Project Makes Use of New Technology Supported by Danida

Supported by Danida, the Central Institute for Economic Management (CIEM) will undertake an electronic publishing project to ensure Vietnamese benefit from the newest developments in the information technology.
Danida has been supporting collaboration between the Vietnamese Central Institute for Economic Management (CIEM) and various Danish institutions including Nordic Institute of Asian Studies (NIAS) to strengthen the research and policy capacity of CIEM, which is a leading thinker on economic reform and development, centrally placed to provide the government of Vietnam with policy advice on economic reforms.
The CIEM and NIAS have come up with an electronic publications strategy which will make Vietnamese economic research and experiences visible to people outside Vietnam. This is especially beneficial for other developing countries where the Vietnamese work could be very valuable in helping to increase publishing skills and organisational resources.
Presently, the institute is initiating a pilot electronic publishing project, which involves launching an English edition of the Danida supported magazine and information source “Vietnamese Economic Management Review”. If a success CIEM will use the experiences from the pilot project to widen the electronic publishing programme.
