Stranded Tourists at Danish Christmas Party

Rye Bread, traditional Danish Christmas Food and of course lots of Schnapps were on the menu, when Jysk Rejsebureau Saturday November 29 2008 hosted their annual Christmas Party at Stable Lodge. Because of the closed airports in Bangkok, the number of guests had increased and about 100 Danish tourists, Danish expats and Thai friends celebrated the beginning of December.
“We’re missing out on a big Christmas lunch back home. We should have been together with 25 of our friends and we’ve really been looking forwards to it,” says Martin Ellerbæk, 24, and Mads Hegelund, 24, from Århus.
They were supposed to go home after two weeks of holiday in Bangkok, but now they don’t know when they can go back.
“It is great, that we still can go to a Christmas Party instead of just waiting for a flight,” Mads says.

Christmas in flip-floppers
”It is amazing that we’re actually at a Christmas Party wearing shorts and flip-floppers,” says 27 year old Louise Vinther.
She is also a guest at Jysk, and together with her friend Anja Bang Mikkelsen, 27, she has chosen to spend the evening at Stable Lodge.
”This could be worse,” the two friends agree.
Jysk Rejsebureau in Bangkok hosts a Danish Christmas Lunch every year.
“We’re happy to have a Christman Lunch now, where a lot of people can’t go back to Denmark,” Managing Director at Jysk in Thailand Jacob Bojsen says.
