The Phillipine Star reports that, Philippine conglomerate Ayala Corporation has entered into a new partnership with Swedish home furnishing giant IKEA, hinting at an upcoming project “to bring something exciting to the north.”
While details of the collaboration have yet to be disclosed, the initiative is expected to involve Ayala’s Quezon City properties, including Vertis North and TriNoma. IKEA, which first opened in the Philippines in 2021 in partnership with the SM Group, continues to explore expansion opportunities in the country.
Ayala Corporation is one of the Philippines’ biggest and oldest companies. It is best known for developing major shopping malls, real estate projects, and financial services, but in recent years has also expanded into energy, technology, and retail. The group is widely recognized for bringing well-known international brands to the Philippines.
The partnership reflects Ayala’s strategy of working with leading global brands to enhance retail standards and consumer choice. In recent months, Ayala has also announced collaborations with Thailand’s CP AXTRA to reintroduce Makro stores, with Kmart Australia to bring home brand Anko, and with China’s BYD for electric vehicles.
The Ayala–IKEA collaboration highlights the growing presence of Nordic design and lifestyle brands in the Philippine market, as demand for modern and sustainable living solutions continues to rise across Southeast Asia.
