Maersk orders eight vessels from Chinese shipbuilder

Mærsk has ordered 8 vessels from Chinese shipyard.

Danish shipping group A.P. Moller – Maersk has ordered eight large container vessels from New Times Shipbuilding Co. Ltd. in China. The agreement was announced on 9 February 2026.

The ships will form a new series of 18,600 TEU vessels. Maersk said deliveries are scheduled for 2029 and 2030.

Maersk said the vessels are 366 metres long and 58.6 metres wide. It said they are more compact than today’s 400-metre maximum container-ship length.

The ships will have dual-fuel engines, running on bunker fuel or liquefied gas. Maersk said it now has 33 vessels on order, including four due in 2026.
