Finnish technology company Nokia has signed an agreement with Malaysian internet service provider Extreme Broadband (EBB) and its subsidiary Open DC to upgrade Open DC’s artificial intelligence (AI) data centers with enhanced security and improved network performance.
Nokia’s IP network solution will connect six data centers across Malaysia – in Cyberjaya, Johor Bahru, Penang and Kedah – providing a more reliable and secure infrastructure. The initiative supports Malaysia’s National Cloud Computing Policy and aims to meet the stringent requirements of the banking and financial services industry.
Nokia and EBB have also entered into a Memorandum of Understanding to cooperate on data center solutions and quantum-safe networks, including multi-cloud connectivity and Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) protection.
“This collaboration underscores our commitment to pioneering technologies that deliver exceptional value to our customers and contribute to Malaysia’s economic growth under the MYDIGITAL policy,” says Wong Weng Yew, Managing Director at Open DC.
According to Kent Wong, Vice President and Head of IP Networks for Asia Pacific at Nokia, the deployment will enable Open DC to use Nokia’s data center switching, automation and quantum-safe networking technologies to strengthen security, scalability and reliability in Malaysia’s growing digital economy.
