A Finnish-Swedish man has been arrested in Pattaya after allegedly hacking a hotel database and scamming guests. Thai police say the suspect targeted both foreign and Thai tourists, Bangkok Post reports.

According to the Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau, the 42-year-old suspect accessed guest data and sent messages posing as a hotel employee. He claimed guests had damaged hotel property and demanded compensation payments.

More than 35 people reportedly transferred money, with total losses estimated at around 100,000 baht. Police said the suspect created a fake website and fraudulent email account to support the scam.

Authorities arrested the man in Chon Buri after the hotel discovered the scheme. Officers seized 25 electronic devices believed to have been used in the operation.

The suspect faces charges including unauthorised access to protected computer data and inputting false information into a computer system. Police have urged tourists who may have received similar messages to contact the hotel and report the incident.
