Scandinavian Airlines has launched a new feature that allows passengers to share the live location of missing baggage with SAS staff through Google’s Find Hub system.

The new option lets travelers send a secure, time-limited link showing the location of a tagged bag if it goes missing. The link can be shared with SAS through the airline’s existing self-service baggage reporting tool.

SAS said the feature is meant to give customers more control during baggage delays and help staff locate and recover luggage faster. According to the airline, passengers can stop sharing their location data at any time, and all information is encrypted.

Massimo Pascotto, Vice President Digital Customer Solutions at SAS, said the new solution is part of the airline’s effort to make travel easier and improve customer support when problems occur.

SAS said it is also working with other travel industry partners to expand the use of Find Hub location sharing across the baggage recovery process. SAS serves more than 25 million passengers each year.
