Singapore’s maritime students leave for Norway

Maritime business students from Nanyang Technological University (NTU) gathered at the Ambassador’s residence in March to sample some Norwegian food and get the chance to ask questions about their impending journey. After the summer, the 50 bachelor students of maritime studies will spend a mandatory semester at BI Norwegian Business School. nor_sg_maritimestudents

The students will spend 5 months at campus outside Oslo while immersing themselves in Norwegian culture and nature. They will also get the opportunity to collaborate closely with the Norwegian business community.

Several Norwegian students on exchange in Singapore joined to share their experiences and advice on being a foreign student. Representatives from the Norwegian business community also joined to answer questions on working for Norwegian companies and business culture in Norway. The students enjoyed Norwegian waffles with goat cheese and strawberry jam and other Norwegian dishes during the evening.

Bringing Norway and Singapore closer together

The close partnership between NTU and BI celebrated the 10th anniversary of the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding in 2004. The schools cooperate to deliver Bachelor degrees, Masters and several shipping short courses. BI currently offers both EMBA in Energy Management and EMBA in Shipping and Offshore in collaboration with NTU, in addition to courses for Bachelor students and various short courses for professionals. The two schools were jointly awarded the prestigious Norwegian Business Association Singapore prize earlier this month. The prize was awarded in recognition of their outstanding cooperation and knowledge exchange and for their contribution to creating closer ties between Norway and Singapore.

The Embassy would like to wish all the students a great trip to Norway!
