A Swedish man wanted by International authorities has been arrested in Jomtien and is being prepared for deportation to Sweden, Thailand News reports.

The 26-year-old Swedish national was detained on 8 July at a condominium in Jomtien, Chonburi province, by officers from the Investigation Division of Thailand’s Immigration Bureau.

According to Thai authorities, investigators tracked the suspect to the Lumpini Seaview Condominiums after receiving intelligence on his whereabouts. Officers approached him in the building’s lobby, checked his passport and confirmed that he was the subject of an Interpol Red Notice before arresting him without incident.

Thai immigration officials identified the man as Silo Serhat. Swedish authorities are seeking him in connection with an alleged drug possession offence.

The suspect had entered Thailand legally in May and was still within his permitted period of stay. However, immigration officials revoked his permission to remain in the country after confirming the Interpol notice.

The arrest was carried out as part of an ongoing campaign by Thailand’s Immigration Bureau to locate and deport foreign fugitives hiding in the country. Thai authorities said they continue to work closely with Interpol and international law enforcement agencies to prevent Thailand from becoming a refuge for people wanted abroad.

The Swedish national is now being processed for deportation and will be returned to Sweden to face legal proceedings related to the outstanding case.
