Vietnam-based VinEnergo, part of the Vingroup group, says it has secured agreements to develop a 10 gigawatt (GW) overseas portfolio of renewable energy projects. A GW is a measure of power capacity, and 10 GW is roughly equal to the output of several large power plants.
The company said the portfolio spans Denmark, Sweden and the Philippines. It described the deals as a first step in a wider international push, and said it is aiming to build up to 100 GW of renewable capacity over the next three years, including 50 GW in overseas markets.
In Northern Europe, VinEnergo said it has partnered with Denmark-based GreenGo Energy to co-develop 2 GW of projects in Denmark and Sweden. The company also said it intends to scale up its total European capacity over time, with a longer-term target of 6.2 GW.
In the Philippines, VinEnergo said it will co-develop 1.3 GW with NKS Renewables Inc, 1.2 GW with URG Asia Corporation, and 1.3 GW with 11.11 Growth Properties. It said the projects are planned in high-sunlight areas across Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, which are the country’s three main island groups.
VinEnergo said it will hold more than 80% ownership in the joint ventures and act as lead developer. It said several projects started early work in 2026, and it expects commercial operations to begin between 2027 and 2028, depending on permitting, construction timelines and grid connection.
