Denmark has renewed its support for the Philippines in strengthening national defence. The message was delivered by Danish Ambassador Franz-Michael Mellbin at the first 2026 Security Lounge hosted by the National Defense College of the Philippines last week.

The event was held at Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo in Quezon City. During his presentation, Mellbin said stronger security requires a broad approach, not only military capacity.

He pointed to areas such as supply-chain integrity, energy production and domestic manufacturing as important parts of national resilience.

He also highlighted the need for stronger institutions built on inter-agency coordination and public-private cooperation.

The discussion also included Col. Raquel A. Vilchez from the Armed Forces of the Philippines Systems Engineering and Modernization Office and Assistant Secretary Eleazer E. Ricote from the Public-Private Partnerships Council.

The Danish Embassy said the event reflected continued Denmark-Philippines dialogue on security and defence issues.
