If you are travelling with Thai AirAsia X in the coming months, your flight is likely to be affected.
The airline has announced that it is reducing flight frequencies and suspending selected routes due to rising jet fuel prices.
Routes affected
Flights from Bangkok (Don Mueang) to Tokyo (Narita), Osaka (Kansai), Almaty and Delhi are being reduced.
At the same time, some routes are temporarily suspended:
- Bangkok – Shanghai from April 17
- Bangkok – Riyadh from April 14 to June 30
The airline has previously made similar cuts, as rising fuel costs and weaker demand continue to affect operations, and Air Asia X is now extending some suspensions due to rising fuel costs.
Fuel prices behind cuts
According to CEO Patra Busarawong, the airline is adjusting operations due to rising fuel costs and the broader global situation.
She apologises in the press release and says:
“We are doing our best to maintain sufficient flight frequency, particularly during long holiday periods. For affected passengers, we are ready to provide full support and a range of alternative options.”
AirAsia X will try to maintain enough flights during busy travel periods, including the long holiday from May 1 to 7.
Passengers notified
Affected passengers will be contacted directly by email or SMS 10 to 30 days in advance.
Passengers can contact Thai AirAsia X (flight code XJ) via its call centre at +66 2 078 1094, Monday to Friday from 9:00–18:00, and weekends and public holidays from 9:00–17:00, or chat with Ask BO 24 hours a day.
